Application Process
Step 1: Apply Online
Our application process is completed online through TADS, a third-party service that captures all the relevant information for your student's application. TADS handles admissions, enrollment, documents, and more. Create a free account and manage everything in one place.
Additional Details
There is a non-refundable $50 application fee. That fee will reserve your child’s place for the placement test administered in the next step.
Admissions will be handled on a first come, first serve basis until we reach capacity for the 2024-2025 school year.
If you have any questions before applying, please contact our admissions team.
Step 2: Placement Exam
All incoming freshmen are required to take the Chesterton Placement Test based on the Classical Learning Test 8 (CLT8). This test will be used as a diagnostic tool to ensure students are placed in the appropriate section of each discipline, and to help identify areas of academic strengths and opportunities for growth.
The test covers the following:
Verbal reasoning skills
Grammar and writing skills
Quantitative reasoning skills
Test Dates
Once you have applied and paid the fee, you will receive an email with more information regarding your testing date and instructions.
Note: Transfer students for incoming sophomores and juniors (no senior transfer students will be accepted at this time) will be required to take the Classical Learning Test 10 (CLT10). If transfer students have taken the CLT10 or CLT in the last 10 months, they may submit their results for evaluation when they apply. Please send results to board@chestertonsarasota.org.
Once enrolled, students will be given a short Latin or Spanish (if applicable) placement tests in the Spring.
Step 3: Family Interview
Each family (student and parents) will also need to take part in a short interview. The purpose is to ensure that both the family and the school are a good fit for one another.
Step 4: Acceptance
After the application process is complete, and all materials (report cards, teacher letters, transcripts, and student essay) have been reviewed and approved by Chesterton Academy staff, qualifying students will receive an acceptance letter.
Step 5: Enrollment
Finally, after acceptance, you are ready to enroll your student in the school! This involves signing a tuition agreement, setting up tuition payments, meeting the other students, families, staff, and teachers, and preparing for the upcoming school year.
