Cecile Thompson came to Sarasota from Stonington, Connecticut. Cecile earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English with an Emphasis in Writing, as well as her Master of Arts of Teaching degree from Connecticut College. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Theology from Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Connecticut. She has participated in conferences on the Catholicism of Shakespeare, and has learned that  literary works, while universal, must also be read with an understanding of the culture in which they were written. Just as Chaucer was a Catholic writer writing for a Catholic audience, so, too, was Shakespeare, as were many others. The ground was prepared for great literature by centuries of English Catholic faith. Cecile loves literature, and knows that those readings of texts that  lack the proper understanding of the faith are anemic and inadequate. Students deserve to know the  truth of what literature tells us — it is the truth of the human condition, and that it points always to the good, the true and the beautiful.
