Mr. Robert Malmberg has a passion for math and science and is excited to be a founding faculty member of Chesterton Academy of St. Padre Pio. He holds a master’s degree from DePaul University in secondary education with the content area of physics. In addition, he has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which included a cognate study in physics. He also has an associate’s degree in chemical engineering from Parkland College. His academic interests are in the various intersections between Catholicism, philosophy, science and education.
His educational philosophy aims to show students the wonder of our natural world’s mathematical design and the Church’s rich engagement with scientific inquiry. One quote that resonates with him is by Pope John Paul II, “Science can purify religion from error and superstition; religion can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes. Each can draw the other into a wider world, a world where both can flourish.” His goal is to help faith and science flourish in his students.
